PRESIDENT AND CHANCELLOR RELEASE JOINT COMMUNIQUE
Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia /MONTSAME/ At the Office of Federal Chancellor in Berlin, the President of Mongolia Ts.Elbegdorj and Germany's Chancellor Angela Merkel issued a joint communique on Tuesday.
The Chancellor is glad that Mongolia's President is paying the state visit to Germany, and hopes it will contribute to realizing important matters being discussed within the bilateral cooperation, she said. By putting a moratorium on the death penalty Mongolia confirmed its devotion to the democratic development, she added.
Ms. Merkel expressed satisfaction with strengthening of the bilateral relations and cooperation, and highlighted an importance of the intergovernmental agreement on cooperation in mineral resources and industry and technology.
“We have reached an agreement to intensify the collaboration in education, sciences, historical science, archeology and linguistics and to exploit academic human resources. The defense sector is one of the grand parts of our relations. Our peacekeepers are serving together in Afghanistan, and we are very proud of the Mongolian tropps,” she said.
The President Ts.Elbegdorj said his meeting with Ms. Merkel had run in a warm and friendly atmosphere, and emphasized that a visit of Germany's Chancellor to Mongolia in October of 2011 was a special event.
The State Head spoke about his meeting with his German counterpart and sharing views on producing liquid fuel from coal, exploiting rare-earth elements, preparing technological professionals and cooperating in the railway sector.
“Mongolia, located near huge market, has rapidly developing economics. If to combine this growth with the latest technologies, we can achieve a lot. In 1990s, Mongolia was the first democratic country in its region, and Germany gave us big assistance in difficult times,” Ts.Elbegdorj said. Germany is the most reliable partner of Mongolia in Europe, he said.
