AMBASSADOR S.BADRAL ATTENDS BOARD MEETING OF CD
Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia, /MONTSAME/ The Ambassador-at-Large to the Community of Democracies (CD) S.Badral participated in a special meeting themed “Internet Freedom” on February 29 in Geneva, Switzerland, in frames of the 19th Regular Session of the Human Rights Council.
Moreover, Mr. Badral has held a consultative meeting with Mr. Koji Abe, a director of the Human Rights and Humanitarian Affairs Division of Japan's Ministry of Foreign Affairs to share views on works to be done within the CD.
Then, S.Badral chaired the 3rd meeting of the CD Board on March 1 in Geneva. This meeting has discussed drafts of mandates of the CD Executive Committee and internal rule, the rule of selecting the secretary-general and other officials of the Permanent Secretariat, and preparation for the upcoming 4th Board meeting to run in July, 2012, in UB. He gave a report on measures taken by Mongolia in frames of the CD's presidency.
At the meeting, a Director-General, the director of the UN Office at Geneva Kassym-Jomart Tokayev said he was glad for a meeting of the CD Board in Geneva, and underlined that there is an opportunity to develop cooperation between the UN organizations and the CD.
This meeting has brought together Ms. Grazyna Maria Bernatowicz, the Under-Secretary of State of Poland's Ministry of Foreign Affairs; Ms. Esther Brimmer, the Assistant Secretary of State for International Organization Affairs; Mr. Emanuelis Zingers, the president of the CD's Parliamentary Forum; department heads of the Ministries of Foreign Affairs of 25 countries; and Ambassadors of countries accredited to Geneva. They have highly spoken the initiatives and endeavor of Mongolia in the CD.
After the meeting, S.Badral called a press conference for the media on the CD's activities. The Permanent Representative of Mongolia to the UN Office at Geneva L.Orgil, and the Ambassadors to Poland O.Dambiinyam have attended the CD meeting as well.
