G.TENGER MEETS ESCAP EXECUTIVE SECRETARY

Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia /MONTSAME/ On Tuesday, the Vice Minister of Foreign Affairs G.Tenger met with Ms. Noeleen Heyzer, the Executive Secretary of United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific (ESCAP) during 68th session in Bangkok, Thailand.

The Vice Minister underlined that Mongolia attaches a great importance to actions of the ESCAP for ensuring the intensive growth of socio-economics, cooperating with the regional countries in realizing the national developmental policy, and to strengthening its position at the regional market. He appreciated this year's session which is taking place under a theme “Growing Together: Economic Integration for an Inclusive and Sustainable Asia-Pacific Century”.

G.Tenger pointed out that the government of Mongolia thankfully accepted a recommendation on measures to be taken to prevent the global economic difficulties which are reflected in the 2012 review of Asia-Pacific socio-economic situation, worked out by the ESCAP's Secretariat.

He thanked the ESCAP for supporting and assisting Mongolia, and said Mongolia wants to expand the collaboration in facilitating trade and in strengthening skills of staffers.

In turn, Ms. Heyzer highly spoke contribution and participation of Mongolia in activities of the ESCAP, and assured him that she will pay attention to intensifying of the ties in frames of the ESCAP's center of sub-regions.

The same day, G.Tenger shared views on the bilateral relations with Chalermpol Tanchit, the Deputy Permanent Secretary of Thailand's Foreign Ministry.

The Vice Minister gave him an invitation from Mongolia's PM for Thailand's PM Yingluck Shinawatra to visit Mongolia. He highlighted that Mongolian side is attaching a great importance to a first visit of Thailand's Prime Minister and hoped this visit will be organized this year.

The Vice Minister expressed a willingness of Mongolia to intensify the Mongolia-Thailand relations in a wide range.

In response, the Thailand's side intends to actively cooperate with Mongolia in the air transportation and tourism sectors and to start augmenting tourists and create a convenient environment.

The sides also raised an issue of collaborating in combating drugs.
