PRESIDENT MEETS DELEGATION OF ASIA FOUNDATION

Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia /MONTSAME/ The President Ts.Elbegdorj has said an assistance and aid from the U.S. Asia Foundation (AF) significantly contributed to developing of the democracy and good governance in Mongolia, and that the Mongolians are always grateful to the USA for this.

The State Head said it last Friday at a meeting with a delegation of the AF. He added that the AF's aid played a big role in gaining achievements in supporting justice and responsibility. "I am glad to say that the projects and programs implemented by the AF have been fruitful in combating corruption, human trafficking and violence, in ensuring the economic sustainable growth and in providing people with books," the President said.

"Chairing the Community of Democracies (CD), Mongolia wants to strengthen the democratic system and values in the region. We have nothing to teach, but we have a lot to share with others. Mongolia is paying great attention to the education for democracy, so we have an aspiration to widen the ties with the AF," Elbegdorj stressed.

He also noted that Mongolia maintains policies such as having the equal relations with its neighbors, developing its economy in many directions, expanding the cooperation with the Third neighbors.

Present at the meeting were Mr. David D.Arnold, the AF's president; Mr. Michael Hayden Armacost, a board member and head of the Executive Council of the AF; and other officials.
