PARTIES AND COALITIONS REVEAL THEIR CANDIDATES

Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia /MONTSAME/ Political parties and coalitions have revealed their candidates who will run in the parliamentary election in June 28.

In accordance with the election law, 28 parliamentary seats will be taken through the majority system, whereas 48 seats--through the proportional system. In other words, 28 MPs will be elected from the parties or coalitions, and 48--from the constituencies.

By the proportional system rule, the Mongolian People's Party (MPP) is announcing their 28 candidates such as S.Batbold /Prime Minister/, U.Khurelsukh /MPP secretary-general/, D.Demberel /Parliament Speaker/, O.Enkhtuvshin MP, D.Lundeejantsan MP, Ts.Nyamdorj /Minister of Justice and Internal Affairs/, N.Enkhbold MP /Vice Speaker of parliament/, Ya.Sodbaatar, J.Enkhbayar MP /and Minister of Defense/, D.Sarangerel and others.

The Democratic Party (DP) is naming 28 candidates such as N.Altankhuyag MP /chairman of the DP/, Z.Enkhbold MP, Kh.Temuujin MP, Ch.Saikhanbileg MP, D.Erdenebat, Sh.Tuvdendorj, R.Burmaa, Ts.Bayarsaikhan MP, R.Gonchigdorj MP, M.Batchimeg and others.

The "Justice" joint coalition--the MPRP and National Democratic Party--has revealed only eight candidates--N.Enkhbayar /former President of Mongolia, chairman of MPRP/, Ch.Ulaan MP, S.Narangerel, Ts.Oyunbaatar, O.Baasankhuu, Ch.Khurts, S.Avirmed and E.Batshugar (N.Enkhbayar's oldest son).
The Civil Will-Green Party has 28 candidates--S.Oyun MP /chairwoman of the party/, S.Demberel /head of National Chamber of Commerce and Industry/, S.Gan-Ochir, M.Khurelsukh and others.

By the majority system, the MPP and DP are to run in each of 26 constituencies spread among aimags and districts of Ulaanbaatar city; the Civil Will-Green Party--in 25 constituencies, except for Dundgobi aimag's constituency; and "Justice" joint coalition--in 21 constituencies.

As we informed before, the candidates at constituencies are to have their documents registered in the constituencies' committees, whereas other candidates will bring the documents to the General Election Commission (GEC) by May 30. By June 6, the GEC is to decide whether to register the candidates, and only then, by June 7, all candidates will be revealed.
