G.TENGER MEETS COUNTERPARTS FROM UZBEKISTAN AND LAOS
Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia /MONTSAME/ The Vice Minister of Foreign Affairs G.Tenger has said Mongolia wants to widen the relations with Uzbekistan, and hoped that the already invited President Ismal Karimov will pay a visit to Mongolia in the nearest future.
He said it on Monday during a meeting with Mr. B.Abdusamatov, the Vice Minister of External Economic Relations, Investment and Trade of the Republic of Uzbekistan. They both are at the 68th session of the ESCAP in Bangkok, Thailand.
The sides shared views on the bilateral relations and on urgent problems facing the landlocked developing countries, then Mr. Tenger appreciated an organization of several cultural events last month on occasion of the Mongolia-Uzbekistan diplomatic relations.
He mentioned that Mongolia Foreign Ministry's delegation intends to take part in a political consultative meeting to be held this year in Tashkent city.
The same day, G.Tenger exchanged views with his counterpart from Lao People's Democratic Republic Mr. Alounkeo Kittikhoun.
G.Tenger said Mongolia wants to intensify the cooperation with Laos in the economic, trade and investment sectors, and pointed out that a great importance is attached to intergovernmental commission meeting which is expected in the second half of this year in Ulaanbaatar. He added that a chairmanship of Laos over the ASEM summit is an expression of the active foreign policy of the Laos government.
Mr. Tenger thanked Laos for signing a multi-lateral treaty on establishing the International Think-Tank for Landlocked Developing Countries, and hoped that the two countries will collaborate in validating this treaty.
