International conference on Chinggis Khaan studies held

An international conference on Chinggis Khaan studies was held at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade on Thursday under the sponsorship of President Ts.Elbegdorj.

Researchers and scholars from the United States, China, South Korea, Russia, Great Britain, and Germany took part in the conference, with 40 delegates in attendance. They noted that the study of Chinggis Khaan embraces a wide swath of history. Delegates read papers on the themes of philosophy, history, politics, culture, traditions, art, and ethnicity.

Kh.Shagdar, who teaches at the Chinggis Khaan Institute, read a paper called “Issues Facing Chinggis Khaan Studies,” academic D.Tumurtogoo read “Writing and Script Policy of Yani State,” and Dr. Sh.Choimaa read “Childhood of Chinggis Khaan.”

Delegates watched documentaries about the Great Mongol State and the history of the Mongolian Empire. An exhibit about Chinggis Khaan was also displayed.

President Ts.Elbegdorj sent a letter to the conference saying democratic choice was a basis of the Great Mongol State, and he expressed his happiness that the number of Chinggis Khaan scholars and researchers is growing.
