The Wish of Birth for Mongolia
The result of the 2010 Population and Housing Census was presented at the Ikh Tenger State Guest House the day before yesterday. The census, conducted between 11th and 17th November, 2010, was the 10th census in state history and the first one in the 21th century.
This was the first census that included the adaptation of the legislation of the population and housing of Mongolia and guaranteed the basic grounds of census information, range and the organization system of the census.
Mongolian citizens living abroad for more than 6 months were also counted online. Furthermore, this was the first census that used a geographical information system based on other countries’ experience.
Following the recommendation of the UN that countries should conduct a census every 10 years, Mongolia was one of the 53 countries to do so. And the results of the 2010 Population and Housing Census, find there are currently 2,754,685 individuals in Mongolia.
The number of Mongolian citizens living abroad for more than 6 months is 107,140. 49.5 percent of the inhabitants are male and 50.5 percent female. By the 2000 Population and housing census, the population of Mongolia was 2,373,493 and the result of 2010 census showed that this data has increased by 382 thousand people.
The gender ratio has been decreasing since 1979 because the average age of women is higher than men. The movement of population number is defined by birthrate, death rate and migration of population. The data showed that the population has increased by 16.1 percent during the last decade and the annual average increase is 1.5 percent.
Many countries conduct the census as it is the only one source of information of acquisition of population, the structure of age and gender, location, education and the economic data in primary instances of administration.
The council of the UN in Mongolia Argentina Mathawell stated “Congratulations for the first population census that used the method which meets the international standard. And I wish the 7billionth person would be born in Mongolia”.
The head of State Census Committee S.Mendsaikhan stated “Mongolia started conducting the census from the time of 13th century. The most definite one is that of 1789 in Baruunburen, Selenge aimag. Over 30000 counters involved in the 2010 Population and housing census. Mongolia received its 1 millionth individual in 1960 and 2 millionth in 1988. The population of Mongolia has been increasing by 40 thousand annually.”
As the first 5 months of 2011, 27,789 birth has been registered which is 0.6percent lower than the preceding year. The average income of one family is 453 thousand tugrik which has increased by 15 percent, 60,5 thousand tugrik. The average outcome of one family is 487 thousand tugrik, which has increased by 28,9 percent compared to the preceding year.
As the first 5 months of 2011, 2.5 million citizens have been given the total amount of 285 billion tugrik from the Human Development Fund so far. The number of unemployed who are seeking work has reached 42 thousand which has increased by 4069 people, 10,6 percent, compared to the preceding year. Within the first 5 months of 2011, 3313 people were injured which is higher than the preceding year by 19,5 percent and 536 have died because of crime, which is lower than the preceding year by 0.9 percent.
As the Bank of Mongolia has stated, the supply of the cash reached 624,8 billion by the end of the May,2011 which is higher than 66.8 percent than the preceding year.
