TNK-BP Will Ship 16 Thousand Tonnes of Diesel to Mongolia

“Zuunii Medee” daily reports that Russian oil company “TNK-BP” will deliver 16 thousand tones of diesel fuel to Mongolia, which will ease a fuel shortage in the country that was caused by failure to deliver 8000 tonnes of diesel in May as promised by “Rosneft”. According to an official at Mineral Resources and Energy Ministry the diesel will cost $1250 USD per ton, because the “TNK-BP” is 5400 km away from Mongolian border. The official said that diesel will arrive in coming week.

Furthermore Mongolian authorities have agreed with Russia and China to import 35 thousand tones and 3000 tonnes of diesel fuel, respectively, which is equal to 2.5 months’ reserve of the country. Currently, no petrol station is selling a diesel and a liter of diesel is being sold by speculators at a cost of more than 2000 tugriks (as opposed to official rate of 1440 tugriks), and high octane “A 92” price has also increased.
