B.Gangaamaa Becomes the First Mongolian Woman to Reach the Top of Mountain Everest

The first Mongolian woman, B.Gangaamaa, to reach the top of Mount Everest returned home on 1st June. She reached the top of Mount Everest on 21st of May. She was greeted at the Chinggis Khaan International Airport by press and representatives from sport organizations.

Minister of Health S.Lambaa congratulated and applauded her for the success.

She was presented with “The Leading Official in the Sports Sector” a Government award. B.Gangaamaa held a brief discussion with the Minister where she shared her experience of seeing the World from its highest point and expressed her appreciation for the award and support from the Government and Mongolian people.

Currently, Ts.Elbegdorj, the President of Mongolia is away making official state visit to the Russian Federation.

It is certain that once he returns home, he will present B.Gangaamaa with an “Honorary Athlete” award. Gangaamaa has formed Ganga-Everest Foundation to support mountain climbers in Mongolia.

She has been practicing mountain climbing since 1989. In 2006, she attempted to climb Everest and with only 168 left to get to the top her health condition failed and she had to quit. Omongst Mongolian climbers, G.Usukhbayar was the first to reach the top of the Everest on 30th of May, 2010.
