“I thought nothing. I was just counting my rotation while I was rotating”

Many are familiar with the reality show “Britain’s Got Talent”; it gives an opportunity to talented performers around the country to become famous. Mongolians only had a chance to watch this entertaining show on TV. Now they have an opportunity not only to watch it but also compete in the Mongolian version titled “Mongolia’s Got Talent”. The show was organized by “Edutainment TV”, NTV and SBN. Only15 will be chosen and allowed to go to the next rounds. The audients will determine who is worthy of winning out of the 15 contestants.

During the audition, members of the National Circus stole the show broke to break the world record by performing amazing stunts. Two of the participants, A.Batbold (AB) and G.Munkhbat (GM) shared their feelings at the moment of joy and breaking a world record. The following is an extract from an interview held with the two published in Unuudur Newspaper by Kh.Uyanga (KU).

KU: -You have just broken the world record. Congratulations!
AB: -Thank you. Only the masters of the world’s best circuses perform this routine. The world record was 50 rotations in space. Although we were aiming for 60 rotations, 55 is the number that we were able to break the world record with. It was quiet difficult and we tried hard.
GM: - We weren’t able to show the whole performances as my partner’s leg had injuries.
KU: - Have you ever rotated 60 times during your training?
AB: -We used to do 50 rotations in our circus shows. We decided to aim higher and try our best to 60 rotations
KU: - When will your record be registered on Genius’s book?
AB: -We have no clue at the moment. We will know after the show has been broadcasted.
KU: -You have a chance to be among the 15 best contestants. In that case what will your next performance be?
GM: -If we can make it to the next stage, you can be sure of seeing interesting performance with unexpected stunts. We will make improvements to the performance as we now will have more time to prepare.
KU: -While you were performing people were afraid that you may fall.
AB: - It was difficult at first as I was afraid of letting my partner down. However, it became easier to perform our show as we became more familiar with each other.
KU: -Isn’t it difficult to find your balance and stand on your partner’s feet after rotation?
GM: -It was terrible at first. However, we got used to it after regular trainings. We have to concentrate well on our performance.
KU: -How many years have you been doing this performance?
AB: -We are not the professional actors of National Circus, we are assistant performers. One of the actors of National Circus, A.Enkhtur, is my brother. He used to do this performance before. Therefore, he taught us.
KU: -Rotating in the air seems to work with the same principles as a fan, do you feel dizzy?
GM: -Yes, I do. I fall down if I try walking right after the performance. Therefore, it’s better to stand steady for a while after the performance is done.
-What were your thoughts while rotating?
GM:- Nothing. We should try to concentrate without thinking about anything else. The only thing in my mind was the number of rotations I have already done.
KU: -What did you perform on the first stage of the competition?
GM: - On the first stage we did the juggling. On the second stage we showed a different version of the performance we showed today.
