G. Gerelt-Od elected vice head of Statistical Bureau of ESCAP

Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia, /MONTSAME/ The second session of the United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific's (UNESCAP) Statistical Commission started Wednesday in Bangkok city, Thailand.

Mongolia is represented by a delegation led by G.Gerelt-Od, the first deputy head of the National Statistics Committee (NSC).

At the opening, the permanent representative of Mongolia to the UNESCAP and Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Mongolia to the Kingdom of Thailand L.Dashpurev gave a report on conclusion to implementation of a resolution approved by Mongolia's initiative, and expressed a position of Mongolia towards initiating a new resolution on regional approach of statistical development and strengthening capability of statistics.

The gathered have determined a developmental attitude of the statistical sector in Asia-Pacific region, and elected an Australian citizen Brian Pink, head of the Australia's Statistical Bureau, as the head of the UNESCAP's Statistical Bureau. The NSC's deputy head G.Gerelt-Od has been elected as the vice header of the Bureau.

The session will last until December 17.
