Agreement approved to combat human trafficking

Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia, /MONTSAME/ The government discussed and approved Wednesday an inter-governmental agreement on cooperation in combating against human trafficking, between Mongolia and Macau, a special administrative region of the People's Republic of China (PRC).

Supervisory body or other related organizations of Mongolia alone are not able to detect and investigate human trafficking crime because it is a highly-organized and concealed trans-boundary crime.

It is expected that the agreement will significantly contribute to protecting interests of Mongolians residing in Macau, to preventing trafficking people especially women and children, ceasing the crime, defending interests of victims of the crime, helping them return home. Moreover, the victims will be not kept in custody, will get help in entering the social life; criminals are to be detected and imposed legal responsibilities, and properties, health and moral damage is to be compensated.
