Vice speaker visits Germany

Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia, /MONTSAME/ A delegation headed by G.Batkhuu, a Vice Speaker of Mongolia, has visited Germany's Berlin, Dresden and Freiberg cities at an invitation of the government of the Federal Republic of Germany (FRG).

In frames of the visit, the delegation has been received by Mrs. Gerda Hasselfeldt, the vice-president of the Bundestag; Mr. Ruprecht Polenz, chairman of the Bundestag Standing committee on foreign policy; Mrs. Dagmar Enkelmann, head of the parliamentary group for German-Central Asia affairs, and by other high officials. Their meetings have run under themes "Environmentally- and socially-friendly mining policy", "Rehabilitation for areas of brown coal extraction-Natural rehabilitation of mining deposits in the East Germany", "Policy of environmentally- and socio-economically-friendly mining and its realization", and "Human rights, good governance and gender equality".

The sides of Germany and the European Union (EU) have expressed a willingness to have a sustainable strategic partnership with Mongolia in the mining sector.

In Dresden and Freiberg, the Mongolian delegation has met with Mr. Hartmut Fiedler, state secretary of the Saxony state's ministry of economics, labor and transportation; Mr. Bernd-Erwin Schramm, mayor of Freiberg city, and with authorities of the "Economic development" LLC. Issues have discussed among them on environmentally-friendly mining policy, history of the cooperation between Mongolia and the Saxony state, its participation in Mongolia's mining sector, and scientific research and training implemented in a scope of the bilateral collaboration. They also have emphasized that want to establish a partnership between Erdenet and Freiberg cities.

At every meeting held in Germany, the German side was expressing a willingness to make investments to Mongolia because indicators for economic stability and good governance are at a high level. Germany wants to cooperate with Mongolia in promoting developmental rating and constructing mining processing factory in Mongolia.

The sides have underlined that Germany supports Mongolia's "Third neighborhood policy". Then, the Bundestag vice-president Mrs. Gerda Hasselfeldt has stated that she will pay a visit to Mongolia next year. The countries also agreed to organize a forum themed "Mining sector and mining partnership" and to create a research group comprising 25 students from each of the countries.
