X-ray equipment installed at border checkpoint

X-ray equipment has recently been installed at the Altanbulag border port in Selenge Province. Senior inspector at the Law and Legislation Division of the General Customs Authority, Ch.Tamiraa, said regarding the equipment, “Some people intend to carry prohibited goods when crossing the border. Therefore, this x-ray equipment will be installed at Chinggis Khaan International Airport, Zamyn-Uud soum, Dornod Province, Selenge Province and the free-zone at Tsagaan Nuur (lake) in Bayan-Ulgii Province, where there are border checkpoints in order to prevent the smuggling of any illegal items.

“As part of the plan, the first installation of the German-made equipment, has been carried out at Altanbulag border port. The equipment is capable of detecting guns, explosives and illegal drugs hidden both inside and outside of human bodies. The customs services used equipment made in China and Southeast Asia prior to this, but the new equipment outshines previous ones, as it is able to fully check an individual from head to toe in just seven seconds. Most importantly, the rays are not harmful to people’s bodies and its safety is guaranteed.”
