Inner Mongolia to cut coal levies to boost mining
Inner Mongolia, officially the Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region governed by China will help the local coal industry by cutting administrative fees and transport charges for local miners.
Levies for coal will be reduced by $3.27 a tonne between Sept 1 and Dec 31, while the local government will also suspend the collection of environmental protection fees and miscellaneous rail transport charges.
For over ten years since 2000, Inner Mongolia's GDP growth has been among the highest in the country, largely owing to the success of natural resource industries in the region.
Other medium term measures include increasing financial support for coal miners, lowering borrowing costs, encouraging the development of coal processing industries and further eliminating illegal fees.
