“Three Neighbors” circus impresses the audience
Circus performers were skillfully flipping china bowls onto their heads while maintaining balance on a plank rolling on a cylinder. One, two, three, and eight – the performers successfully piled eight china bowls, four of which they flipped at the same time. None of the bowls broke.
This is the opening act of the “Three Neighbors” show – a collaboration of Mongolian, Chinese, and Russian circus performers which started their spring tour last Saturday on May 25.
The two incredible circus performers who performed this amazing balancing act are Jong Yan and Yan Tin from Hebei Province of China. They not only balance the piles of the bowls on their heads, but also on their backs and necks. Their performance received a long applause from the audience, who knew little about the other more astounding performances waiting to be executed.
This year, the Russian circus performers are visiting Mongolia with their animals, making this the first circus animal performance in Mongolia since 2010.
The show continued with astounding performances by the bears from Russia. They are already famous and are well-known by the Mongolian audience since they performed here three years ago. The bears were trained by the Russian People’s Artist famous animal tamer and circus performer, Nadejda Takshantova.
The three bears named Yasha, Dasha, and Misha rode bicycles, jumped ropes, and danced. Dash was wearing a skirt and some large accessories that reminded the audience of gypsies. She was also happily playing basketball and even scored a goal into the basket. One of the bears reached about three meters high while standing on its hind legs and waving to the audience.
The bears have been training and performing in the circus for more than 10 years now.
Six geese came onstage and presented their cheerful acts including jumping over and crawling down the hurdles. Their trainer is Aliya Takshantova, the daughter of bear tamer Nadejda.
The husband of Nadejda, Tagir Takshantov, also performed in the show as the clown named Ponchik. Although the clown did not say a word, everyone in the circus was laughing hard and he was communicating with the kids very well. This is proof of that the circus art is a universal language which people from any country can understand. While Chinese and Russian performers are performing in Mongolia, Mongolian circus actors are touring in foreign countries and this is the wonder of this art.
The main organizer of this show, the “Shine Tsirk” (New Circus) Center of Mongolia, also prepared some breathtaking acts. The director of the center, D.Zorigt, and his wife, B.Otgontsetseg, are two of the prominent circus performers and teachers of Mongolia.
The contortionists of the “Goo Maral” Center of B.Otgontsetseg amazed the audience with their remarkable acts. The artists even danced adding more excitement to the show. Mongolian acrobats also presented their award-winning teeterboard act on the Korean plank (an acrobatic apparatus that resembles a playground seesaw on which performers jump), as well as double trapeze show.
The “Three Neighbors” show was overall a complex circus performance with different acts; from trained animals to balance performers to aerial acrobats. The show will run until June 7 at the Mongolian National Circus. The circus will also be performing in Erdenet and Darkhan afterwards.
