Basketball team heads to East Asian Championship

The Mongolian men’s basketball team has left for Incheon, South Korea to participate in the 2013 East Asian Basketball Championship for Men. The tournament will be held from May 16 to 21.

Teams from China, Hong Kong, Macau, Japan, North Korea, South Korea, Mongolia, and Taiwan will compete in the tournament. The tournament is also the East Asian qualifying tournament for the FIBA (International Basketball Federation, in French) Asia Championship. The top four ranking teams will compete in this regional tournament.

The Mongolian National Basketball Team will select its top 14 players who will represent the country in the East Asian Championship. The head coach of the team is O.Bayartsogt and the assistant coach is an American, Luke Simons. The team will play its first match against Hong Kong on May 17, and will be up against China on May 18.
