Mongolia ranks 91st in State of the World’s Mothers report

As part of U.S. observed Mother’s Day holiday on May 12, international organization, Save the Children presented its 14th annual State of the World’s Mothers report. The report ranks 176 countries as the best and the worst places in the world to be a mother, and ranked Mongolia 91st.

Scandinavian countries including Finland, Sweden and Norway topped the ranks as the best places to be a mother.

The report ranks countries based on the mortality rate of newborns and mothers who die in childbirth, the mortality rate of children aged up to 5 years, and the average income of women and their work positions.

It also evaluates the need to improve health systems, train and equip more health workers, and make proven, underused solutions available to every mother and newborn in need of them. Save the Children believes, such efforts could help prevent as many as 3 out of 4 newborn deaths.

Save the Children has produced this report annually since the year 2000.
