INT'L SYMPOSIUM ON MONGOLIAN HISTORY RUNS

Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia /MONTSAME/ An international symposium themed "Chingis Khaan and Mongolian Empire--history, culture and legacy" started on Tuesday in the Mongolia-Japan center.

It has been co-organized by Academy of Sciences of Mongolia (AS), the Institute of International Studies, the Institute of Historical Sciences, the Sekiguchi Public Research Society and the Atsumi international foundation in frames of the 850th birth anniversary of Chingis Khaan and 40th anniversary of Mongolia-Japan diplomatic relations.

The symposium has brought together 40 scholars from Italy, Russia, Japan, China, the Philippines and the host country.

An academician Sh.Bira delivered a key report titled "Tengerism of Mongolians and Chingis Khaan". Other reports have been given by Dr. Tanaka Katsuhiko of Japan; Dr. Men Sunlin, a president of the Academy of National History and Culture of the Chinese Inner Mongolian Autonomous Region; Dr. A.Jeleznyakov, a professor of the Institute of Sociology at Russia's Academy of Sciences; and by Dr. S.Tsolmon, a professor at the Institute of Historical Sciences.

The symposium will last until Thursday.
