Mongolians to be trained to work in construction of 100,000 apartments in Ulaanbaatar

The Chief of Building and Apartment Policy Board of the Ministry of Road, Transportation and Urban Development, B.Baasan, has said work on about half of the apartments under the 100,000 Apartments project began in April. The Ministry is working on a draft law on construction to meet the legal requirements of the project.

The Ministry’s policy is to train Mongolian workers to work in the construction of these apartments. Besides, it is hoped 70% of the building material would come from domestic factories by 2016. These factories would be in the private sector and quality control measures would be in place.

The whole project would cost MNT800 billion, MNT467 billion of which would be allocated to the construction sector. Local administrations would decide on the location of the apartments.
