New type of dinosaur was discovered in Umnugovi aimag of Mongolia

The Japanese Hayashibara Biochemical Laboratories, Inc. has announced that the dinosaur remains discovered in the territory of Umnugovi aimag in 2002 that were unknown up to date were belonged to the family of Pachycephalosaurus on August 25, 2011.

Researchers claim that the remains belonged to the period of 90 million years ago. The skull is dome-shaped which denies the current theory that domelike dinosaur used to live 80 million years ago which is a sensational discovery in archeological history. Researchers made a conclusion that the finding belonged to a young dinosaur 1-2 meters in length.

The rare findings were discovered by the Hayashibara Biochemical Laboratories in assistance with Mongolian Academy of Science in 2002. Scholars from Japan, Mongolia and USA have being studied the skull and other parts jointly who spent 9 years to determine new species of dinosaur family. The new type of species was given a name of Amtocephale gobiensis. Friday, 26th August 2011
