Deepening friendly cooperation with China in interest of Mongolia: president
ULAN BATOR, Aug. 26 (Xinhua) -- As a common wish of the Mongolian government and its people, deepening the friendly cooperation with China is in the best interests of Mongolia, President Tsakhia Elbegdorj says.
Elbegdorj made the remarks Thursday at a meeting with Zhou Yongkang, a senior official of the Communist Party of China (CPC).
Elbegdorj said he hoped Mongolia and China could enhance cooperation in mineral resources exploration, infrastructure construction, inter-party exchanges and international organizations.
China has scored notable achievements and has lots of experience for Mongolia to learn from, the president said. He added that during his China visit last year, he met with Chinese leaders and visited north China's Jilin province. The trip, he said, impressed him a lot and let him see the broad prospects for Mongolia-China cooperation.
It is good to see the important consensus reached by the two countries' leaders and the agreements signed by both parties being implemented and yielding results, Elbegdorj said.
Zhou said that as the China-Mongolia relationship entered its next 60 years, Elbegdorj visited China in 2010 and the two countries established a strategic partnership when Mongolian Prime Minister Sukhbaatar Batbold visited China in June.
Zhou, a member of the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee and Secretary of the Commission for Political and Legal Affairs of the CPC Central Committee, said his visit to Mongolia aimed to implement the consensus reached by the leaders of the two countries and promote cooperation in trade, economy and law enforcement and inter-party cooperation.
Both as developing countries, China and Mongolia are exploring social systems and ways of development that suit their national conditions, Zhou said.
China respects the choices made by the Mongolian people and believes Mongolia will take advantage of its strengths and potential to conduct its strategy of revitalizing the country by developing mineral resources and realizing political stability, economic development and improvement of livelihood, Zhou said.
Mongolia was the last leg of Zhou's five-nation Asian tour, which has taken him to Nepal, Laos, Cambodia and Tajikistan. Zhou wrapped up his official goodwill visit to Mongolia on Friday.
