Advisers aim to improve tax collection in Mongolia
A working group that includes senior officials from the International Monetary Fund and the United States government met with officials from the General Taxation Office today. The working group is offering the Mongolian tax authorities advice on how to improve tax assessment and collection services. The project began in 2009 and has since expanded. It is being carried out at the request of Mongolian Finance Minister S.Bayrtsogt. The group is also offering technical assistance, as well as assistance in adapting international standards. The working group includes John Brondolo, a senior economist with the IMF, and Bill Remington of the U.S. Treasury Department.
