FIRST MEETING OF PARLIAMENTARY SESSION TAKES BREAK

Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia /MONTSAME/ A the first plenary meeting of the session of parliament of 2012-2016 started around noon on Friday but could not discuss agenda including a matter on electing the Speaker.

The group of the Mongolian People's Party (MPP) did not come to the meeting. As its head N.Enkhbold MP explained it, "no agreements or arrangements were made with us."

In response, a democrat Ch.Saikhanbileg MP quoted the Supreme Court's decision that the Democratic Party's (DP) delivering yesterday consultation documents to all political parties is the agreement, and insisited on calling the MPP group to the session. It was backed by another democrat S.Bayartsogt MP who demanded D.Demberel, who is chairing the session as the oldest member, that the meeting is continued and the MPP faction come to it. "And even if they do not appear, we can run the meeting without any agreements with them, it is not illegal, so the session must go on," he added.

Mr Demberel stressed that their group must reach own agreement and continue the talks on selecting the new Speaker and had the session take a break until 3.00 pm.
