PREMIER STARTS OFFICIAL VISIT TO JAPAN
Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia /MONTSAME/ The Prime Minister S.Batbold started on Sunday an official visit to Japan at invitation of his Japanese counterpart Mr. Yoshihiko Noda.
This high-level visit has been paid in frames of the 40th anniversary of the Mongolia-Japan diplomatic relations aiming to determine the short and long term goals of the relations and cooperation, including the ties in the mining, mineral resources, infrastructure, energy, agriculture, environment and human resource sectors, and to launch talks on establishing the Economic Partnership Agreement (EPA). Another purpose is to reach agreement in implementing a USD 20 million loan's project in the social welfare sector and other three of non-refundable aid.
The PM will be received by Crown Prince Naruhito, then he will hold official talks with Mr. Yoshihiko Noda. The Mongolian Premier will call on Takahiro Yokomichi, the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Kenji Hirata, the Speaker of the House of Councillors. Other meetings are expected with Koichiro Genba, the FM of Japan, and Yukio Edano, the Minister of Economy, Trade and Industry, to share views on the relations and cooperation.
The PM began the visit with attending a ceremony of commemorating the victims of the tsunami and earthquake occurred on March 11 in 2011. Among the participants were His Majesty Akihito and the Japanese PM.
The same day, the Mongolian Premier received authorities of the biggest companies of Japan including Shinichiro Ito, CEO of the All Nippon Airways (ANA); K.Oda, an executive vice president of the ANA; and K.Shibata, the vice president in charge of external relations affairs. “For the time being, the ANA has been cooperating with our EZNIS company in supporting domestic flights, but we want to collaborate more," the Premier said and underlined an importance of Mongolia's air transport in accelerating the economics. Then he hoped that mutual visits of tourists will increase thanks to activating the ties between private sectors of our countries. The Mongolians always grateful to government and people of Japan for helping Mongolia in its difficult times of transmitting to the democracy and market economy, he said and pointed out the air transportation cooperation will become a bridge for the friendly inter-citizen ties.
In turn, the ANA CEO mentioned that they pay attention to introducing latest hi tech, training staffers, making investments, and said their company wants to collaborate with Mongolia in these directions, hoping that Mongolia's government will support it.
S.Batbold thanked the ANA for supporting activities of the Mongolian Airlines (MIAT) at the Narita and Kansai international airports, and emphasized that it is of importance to assist the direct flights between our countries for the sake of bilateral cooperation in all fields.
Then the Mongolian PM received a delegation headed by Mr. Ken Kobayashi, the president of the Mitsubishi Corporation. The PM expressed confidence that the corporation will activate a cooperation with Mongolia in enriching the Mongolia-Japan strategic partnership relations with economic contents. Mr. Kobayashi said they plan to invest in Mongolia's business and to train staffers.
