Inner Mongolia not to approve projects of overcapacity industries

Inner Mongolia will not give green light to new projects of industries with severe overcapacity including steel, cement, electrolytic aluminum and sheet glass from November 24, 2013. Meanwhile, the province puts foward a timetable of obsolete capacity elimination to refine the task.

Inner Mongolia aims to eliminate out-of-dated capacity of 10,800 tonnes in ferroalloy industry, 25,000 tonnes in nonferrous industry, 370,000 tonnes in calcium carbide industry and 55,000 tonnes in sheet glass industry by the end of 2013. It vows to wash out obsolete capacity of 89,200 tonnes in ferroalloy industry and 430,000 tonnes in calcium carbide industry. Moreover, the province targets to phase out backwards capacity of 4.59 million tonnes in cement industry and 1.82 million tonnes in coke industry.
