Chinggis Khaan’s 851st birthday to be celebrated on November 4
Mongolian legislators have agreed to mark the birthday of Chinggis Khaan on the first day of the first month of winter through the Lunisolar Calendar, and approved it as a national holiday.
This year, the day will be celebrated on Monday, November 4.
As part of the holiday, several events are scheduled according to government officials who made reports on the matter during a press conference held at the Government Palace on October 30.
The State Flag Raising Ceremony will begin the celebration of Chinggis Khaan’s birthday at 10 a.m. on Monday at the Central Square. A national costume and garment fashion show under the theme of “Ancient Mongolia, Mongolian Empire and Present Mongolia” will take place after the ceremony.
One of the core events of the holiday will be the Award Ceremony of the Chinggis Khaan Order of Merit, the highest award of the state, to former Prime Minister D.Sodnom.
The following is the full schedule of events to be held during Chinggis Khaan’s Birthday.
- At 10 a.m., commencement of the State Flag Raising Ceremony at the Central Square.
-At 10:10 a.m., commencement of the National costume and garment fashion show with theme of “Ancient Mongolia, Mongolian Empire and Present Mongolia” at the Central Square.
-At 10:40 a.m., commencement of the Honoring Ceremony of the State’s Nine White Banners at the Central Square.
-At 11:40 a.m., commencement of the Award Ceremony of the Chinggis Khaan Order of Merit at the Honor Hall of the Government Palace.
-At 12:30 p.m., commencement of the State Flag of Mongolia will be raised in front of Chinggis Khaan memorial statue.
-At 12:40 p.m., commencement of the Tribute Ceremony of Chinggis Khaan by high ranking government officials and citizens at the Chinggis Khaan’s memorial statue.
-At 12:50 p.m., commencement of the Fire Ceremony at the State Ger of the Government Palace.
-At 2 p.m., commencement of the Wrestling Tournament of 128 of the highest ranking national wrestlers at the National Wrestling Palace.
-At 5:40 p.m., the State Flag of Mongolia will be taken down from Central Square.
