Development Foundation of Culture and Art- 2013 exhibition

The Development Foundation of Culture and Art- 2013 photo, film and video exhibition opened at the Mongolian National Modern Art Gallery on November 5. The Development Foundation of Culture and Art of the Ministry of Culture, Sport and Tourism organized the exhibit to report what they have completed over the last year through photography, film and video.

Thirty-nine organizations, namely the State Academic Theatre of Drama, State Academic Theatre of Opera and Ballet, National Dance and Song Ensemble, State Puppet Theatre, State Philharmonic, Book Palace of Children, Mongolian National Museum, Fine Arts Museum, Mongolian Theatrical Museum, Mongolian National Modern Art Gallery, Bogd Khaan Palace Museum, Choijin Lama Museum, Ulaanbaatar City Museum, Arts Council of Mongolia, Mongolian Art Employees Association, Union of Mongolian Writers, Institute for the Study of Nomadic Civilizations, Mongolian Association of Composers, Friendship International Center, Nature Dance, Mongolian New Circus Center, Cinema of Sound, Ariunaa Suri LLC, Katya Zol, Development Foundation of Ballet, State University of Culture and Art, Institute for the Study of Culture and Art, Dance and Music College, Public Dance Association, Soldier’s Orchestra, Culture Center of Yuruu soum in Selenge Province, Theatre of Khuvsgul Province, Mongolian Heritage Center, Sharga Daaga, Semuun Studio, Remote Control, Shuuder Production, Central Dinosaur Museum, and Khadgaa Circus participated in the exhibition.

About the Development Foundation of Culture and Art

The Development Foundation of Culture and Art was first established following a resolution of the Government of Mongolia on May 25, 1997, and the rules of the fund were approved.

As stated in Article 15 of the Law on Special Funding of the Government of Mongolia, the purpose of the fund for developing culture and arts is to provide financial support for the following:

- Keeping, protecting, promoting and assembling items of inheritance, antiques, and the history of Mongolian culture.

- Making movies and documentaries and compiling traditional and classical artworks with the state budget.

- Compiling new artworks and literature, and implementing projects and programs to put them in the public domain.

- Supporting the making of movies and sound recordings that promote national culture, heritage, history, and antiques of the culture, not only in our country, but in foreign countries as well. Additionally, supporting the publication of books, professional newspapers and magazines about culture and art.

- Holding art and cultural concerts, and organizing exhibitions of historical and cultural antiques and artwork overseas and in our country.

- Compiling artworks and organizing cultural and art events to increase the artistic and aesthetic knowledge of children

- Buying necessary facilities, equipments and materials for cultural and artistic organizations.

- Organizing retraining seminars and training for artistic workers and artists, and helping them to get involved in foreign and domestic cultural events:

- Buying the best, big musical classics, art, movies, and books and including them in the national archive.

- Encouraging and conferring awards to the artistic workers and the artists for achieving a great success in international culture and art festivals, competitions, exhibitions and book fairs:

- Promoting the entities, organizations and citizens who contribute to developing national culture and craft and to preserving and protecting cultural heritage, history and antiques.

The nine-member administration of the fund consists of representatives of state organizations and professional, cultural, and artistic people.
