Astronomical Observatory "Khurel Togoot" open to public

The Research Center of Astronomy and Geophysics of the Mongolian Academy of Science is holding a number of public events from today until next Friday to mark the “Day for Scientists”.

The Astronomical Observatory "Khurel Togoot" is situated 1,620 meters above sea level on Bondkhan mountain where it allows visitors to see the planets in the solar system magnifying stars by 250 times. Since the socialist era when all kind of scientific activities were undertaken in Mongolia, the Astronomical Observatory "Khurel Togoot" was closed to the public.

From now on the Astronomical Observatory "Khurel Togoot" will be open for visitors to see and to receive scientific news and information and for learning.

Due to the public events on the Day for Scientists, Prime Minister N.Altankhuyag, Deputy Speaker R.Gonchigdorj and Deputy Minister of Education, Culture and Science B.Urgamaltsetseg called for the public to visit the Astronomical Observatory "Khurel Togoot" to spend their free time in a new way.
