Speaker Z.Enkhbold gives duty to IAAC
The Speaker of the Parliament Z.Enkhbold visited the Independent Authority against Corruption (IAAC) of Mongolia on Monday along with the Deputy Speaker of the Parliament L.Tsog, Chairman of the Standing Committee on Justice Sh.Tuvdendorj, Chairman of the Standing Committee on Petition R.Burmaa and members of the Parliament D.Ganbat, D.Battsogt and O.Baasankhuu.
The Speaker Z.Enkhbold said “The IAAC is a legislative branch of Parliament and we are introduced to the operation of IAAC in compliance within the 2014 budget programming”.
The IAAC has a role to educate besides it’s investigation responsibility. The responsibility of the newly appointed governors and the leaders of the Citizen’s Representative Khural will be increased in 2013 as the budged authority of the province administration is to rise by two to three times. Thus, the controls on these groups should be enhanced. Starting from the New Year, the IAAC will receive the declaration of asset, income and conflict of the interest from these individuals. The IAAC then should adopt preventative measures in order to prevent people making casual or intentional mistakes as there are many people who are still unaware about the lawsagainst the corruption”, reported the Press, Media and Public Relations Department of the Office of the Parliament.
According to the Corruption Perceptions Index survey carried out by the Transparency International, the global civil society organization leading the fight against corruption, Mongolia has ranked at 94th place with 3,6 points in 2012. The CPI ranks 176 countries “on a scale from 10 (very clean) to 0 (highly corrupt).
