They feel the need for tweed
THREE Leamington men will be going full tweed ahead for two charity challenges this summer.
Michael Nesbitt, 28, James Higgins, 25, and Alex Gardner ,26, completed the Regency 10k Run in a time of one hour and four minutes this month and will now take on the Two Castles Run, between Warwick and Kenilworth Castle on June 10 to raise money for the Children’s Trust and the Mongolian Rally in July for the Lotus Children’s Centre in Mongolia.
And, to represent their team name, they will donning tweed jackets along the way.
James, who went to Arnold Lodge School and Princethorpe college and is currently a student at the University of Kent, said that he and Mike, who attended North Leamington School and works at Delphi Automotive, and Alex, also a former North Leamington pupil who is now in the Royal Navy, all wanted to do something to help others.
He added: “It started with an idea to run the Regency 10k and just snowballed from there,
“The Mongolian Rally is going to be a real challenge - we will be setting off in July, careering through at least 19 countries crossing mountains, deserts and rivers in some of the world’s most remote environments and aiming to arrive in Ulaanbaatar six weeks after leaving the UK.”
The Children’s Trust provides care, education, therapy and rehabilitation to children with multiple disabilities, complex health needs and acquired brain injuries.
The Lotus Children’s Centre is a non-profit organisation working with vulnerable children and families to provide shelter, food and education.
