BILL ON CITIZENS' REPRESENTATIVE KHURAL OF CITY ELECTION SUBMITTED

Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia /MONTSAME/ A draft law on the election of Citizens Representative Khural of the capital city was submitted on Friday to the Parliament Speaker D.Demberel. The bill has been initiated by J.Sukhbaatar, O.Enkhtuvshin, Ch.Saikhanbileg, D.Dondog and Z.Enkhbold MPs.

The initiators say they adhered to fundamental principles of the current law on the parliamentary election in working out the bill. They highlight the bill has been altered due to the biggest conceptual amendment to the system of running the election of the Citizen's Representative Khural of the city.

The bill has 54 clauses in 12 articles, reflecting the matters on realizing the mixed rules of elections for a regulation of organizing the election and for ensuring justice and equality of the election, for example, the election of the UB's Citizens' Representative Khural will have the rules similar to those of the parliamentary election system, will run exactly the same time as the parliamentary election will do--from 7.00 am to 8.00 pm on June 28. Names of those running for the parliamentary and the Citizens' Representative Khural elections will be published together on each polling paper, a counting is to be made by automatic machines/devices. Only state administrative and public servicemen are allowed to enter the organizing committee of the election of the Citizens' Representative Khural.

In accordance with the bill, a candidate for the Citizens' Representative Khural election must be living in the city one year at least.
