Mongolia and EU hold annual meeting

Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia, /MONTSAME/ The 13th regular meeting of the Joint Committee of Mongolia and the European Union (EU) was held Monday in Ulaanbaatar co-chaired by M. Enkhbold, the Deputy Premier of Mongolia and head of the joint committee for Mongolian side, and by F.Jessen, a head of Mongolian Affairs Section at the European Commission (EC).

The sides have exchanged information about present situation in their politics, socio-economy and foreign policy. They have considered implementation of the development program between Mongolia and the EU for 2007-2010 and the directions of the development program for 2011-2013, as well as projects and programs to be realized in future.

They have shared views on present level and possibilities of their relations, on works to be done in frames of the collaboration in environment, transportation, foods and cultural spheres.

The parties have underlined that a draft agreement of the Mongolia-EU partnership and cooperation is undergoing a final stage thanks to mutual endeavor. They have discussed issues of determining priorities of collaboration in introducing European standards and norms in Mongolia and in implementing some projects.
The EU has promised to collaborate with Mongolia in realizing the goals, and has said the EU will make a financing of USD eight million in a period between 2010 and 2013 for implementing them.

In accordance with a tradition, the sides have agreed to organize the next meeting in the second half of 2011
in Brussels, Belgium.

A delegation of the EU will meet with N.Altankhuyag, the First Deputy Premier of Mongolia, to consider matters on introducing the European standards in Mongolia.
