McDonalds trying for Mongolia

Mongolia is one of the lucky "McDonalds Free" countries of the world. In Mongolia Mongolians eat fast food, they have their own, Khaan Buuz. Buuz is a mutton dumpling; I'm going to post about those later on Things that Fizz & Stuff.

But the lucky Mongolians don't have McDonalds, yet.

I was not surprised to learn via The Asian Gypsy-All Things Mongolian, a Mongolian blog in English that I read regularly, that not only McDonalds, but also Starbucks look as though they are ready to set up shop in the capital Ulaan Bataar and tempt the Mongols out of their hard earned tugriks (yes, I said tugriks, that's what Mongolians spend).

Are we destined to see signs like this:

in Ulaan Bataar, or will they be in Mongol rather than Russian?

Will McDonalsds soon replace Khaan Buuz in Mongolia and destroy another of the world's cultures?

Could this be true? A mere day after the announcement that Starbucks was soon to open in UB, we announce that McDonalds could be the next global venture to open in what is often perceived as “the country at the end of the world”.

Such is the corporate greed.
