Board reviews SME loan program

The Small and Middle Enterprise Board (SMEB) has just finished a review of the loan program in 21 aimags and Ulaanbaatar city. The review covered 365 economic entities which got a loan last year and 612 this year.

Repayment was 97% in the case of 2009 loans. Darkhan and Dornod aimags issued all loans in the first half of the year while Dornogobi and Dundgobi aimags were late. Officials there will be taken to task and the loan amount there would also be reduced.

In 2010, the food sector claimed 16% of the loans, animal husbandry 5%, agriculture 21%, construction 9%, light industry 22% and others 7%. Borrowing units have been producing eggs, other vegetables, packeted milk and yogurt, and bricks and blocks for local consumption.
Pending proposals for loans from the provinces total MNT150 billion.
