Law & Human Rights in Mongolia
Projects Abroad Law and Human Rights placements in Mongolia are based in the fascinating city of Ulaanbaatar, one the most remote capitals in the world.
Projects Abroad works with a number of different Law and Human Rights organisations. The Mongolian legal system was previously based on customary law. More recently the system has been undergoing considerable change and volunteers have the chance to become involved in this development.
Volunteers on a Law project will be involved in many aspects of the legal process, including conducting interviews, researching cases and even assisting colleagues with their English skills.
Volunteers on a Human Rights placement will work alongside organisations dealing with issues such as domestic violence, human trafficking and child protection. Volunteers are able to compare human rights legislation in the west to that of Mongolia, with the aim of developing the existing measures in place.
Those wishing to take part in a placement need to have some experience in the field. Those wishing to join a Human Rights project do not require any previous training. All volunteers must show drive and initiative as these placements are fast-paced. Those who grasp every opportunity are sure to have a fulfilling experience.
