Taxi fare set to increase
The price per kilometer for a taxi ride is set to rise. Ulaanbaatar taxi customers will now pay 1000 MNT per km. Taxi drivers will need to be responsible for running a standard taximeter as agreed by a three party agreement between the Authority for Fair Competition and Consumer Protection (AFCCP), Capital City Transportation Authority and Taxi operators on Wednesday August 28th.
According to a statement by the Head of the Authority for Fair Competition and Consumer Protection (AFCCP) O.Magnai all taxi operators in Ulaanbaatar should have the same taxi logo and the taxi fare should be visible on the sign.
According to the new rule taxi fares begin with an initial charge of 1500 MNT with 1000 MNT from the second km, 1000 MNT for call taxi service and 100 MNT each minute idle.
