Team from Mongolia Beats Favored Malaysian Teams to Advance to the Second Round of Global CyberLympics, an International Hacking and Computer Network Defense Competition

Global CyberLympics Round One Forensics Security Challenge results have been posted. The favored top Malaysian teams were defeated teams by teams from Mongolia, Sri Lanka, Indonesia and India.

(PRWEB) August 28, 2012Global CyberLympics is off to a good start as results have been posted for each regional competition and many teams left disappointed because they did not advance to the second round. Global CyberLympics kicked off with the South American competition where teams from Brazil, Colombia, Argentina, Peru, and others competed. The competition was intense, but in the end the Deloitte LATCO team won with a high score of 6,000 and remained undefeated in the North American and Asian regional competitions. During the Asian regional competitionk only 1 team out of 33 Indian teams placed in the top ten to advance to Round 2, the Penetration test. Finally, in a last minute rush several teams submitted findings in the Forensics challenge to beat the Malaysian teams and advance to the next round.

The European competition was extremely intense as the majority of teams were tied. Teams from Ireland, Great Britain, Netherlands, Switzerland, France, Hungary the Czech Republic and many more competed. At the end of the European competition, three teams were able to beat the Deloitte LATCO record of 6,000 by getting a score of 6,500, and two teams were able to tie with Deloitte LATCO making the European competition the most competitive. Two out of the three highest scoring teams in Europe are also from Deloitte teams Hack.ERS and sloopkogel, the third team Codezen is from Synalabs.

The World Finals for Global CyberLympics will be held live at Hacker Halted; with so many great teams participating, it will be interesting to see which teams advance through the 2nd and 3rd rounds of competition to make it to the finals.
