Mongolia Halts Sale of T-Rex Like Dinosaur Skeleton At New York Auction House
The Mongolian president has asked that the origin of a Tyrannosaurus bataar be determined. The skeleton of a dinosaur was auction in New York by Heritage Auctions but the sale was ordered by a judge in Dallas to be halted.
President Tsakhia believes the skeleton to be of a dinosaur native to the Gobi desert in Mongolia. The Tyrannosaurus bataar is a distant cousin of the North American T-Rex.
The bataar stands 8 feet tall and is 24 feet long. Due to the country´s size it is difficult for them to monitor excavation sites and looting of the sites occurs.
