Labor Investigation in Oyu Tolgoi Questions Chinese Workers
The decision to employ 6949 workers from China in Oyu Tolgoi greatly upset the people of Mongolia, especially since unemployment rates have reached 40 thousand.
Consequently, the Mongolian Labor Union have decided to conduct a labor examination in Oyu Tolgoi.
According to Ganbaatar, the head of the Mongolian Labor Union, the labor examination was supposed to be held on 21-22 May.
However, it wasn’t conducted because of Oyu Tolgoi’s demand that the supervision of labor examination be shown.
Oyu Tolgoi also demanded that the investigation crew should be composed of four members.
At the moment, the Labor Union is formulating the guidance about exactly how the investigation is to be conducted and with how many supervisors.
Moreover experts to compose the examination team are currently being chosen.
These experts will determine which position will be occupied by which workers, according to their skills. According to a Union official, the Mongolian Labor Union is working to perform the labor examination before June.
