Fire breaks out at the ANUN Center
On Tuesday morning at 6:30 am, fire broke out at the Khan Uul District’s ANUN furniture market and the production center’s storage facility. The guard immediately called 101 and the district’s Emergency Management’s fire fighter team arrived three minutes later. Upon arriving they discovered that it wasn’t possible for them to extinguish the fire, therefore they called on further help from other fire fighting teams. At 7:20 a.m. the fire was extinguished completely by six fire fighting teams.
When our reporters arrived at the scene the office buildings were all blocked and precautionary measures were taken. The police assisted in guarding the restricted areas.
The General Emergency Management Agency and the Capital City Emergency Agency were also working with the six fire fighting squads. The fire fighters who worked directly with the fire stated that the fire was blazing and they didn’t have enough water, making it extremely difficult and tiresome to extinguish it.
The storage house that burnt down was large and spacious. Furniture for new apartments, cosmetic products and electric appliances were housed in the store, most of which were damaged and destroyed. Luckily, the cubical operators at the centre managed to transport flammable objects such as gas and paint away.
The fire inspectors were not able to enter the store house to assess the situation due to ash and smoke. Even fire fighters with special masks and fireproof wear reported it was difficult to be inside.
It wasn’t long before the store house collapsed and the fire-fighters used ladders to extinguish the fire from up high. But they were not able to suppress the emitting smoke and ash. All the store sections except the computer store were burnt. New furniture was affected most by the fire. The ANUN center is insured at Ard insurance.
The ANUN workers stated, “Fifteen years of hard work has been ruined. We have worked for many years.
The most worrisome thing was the Sod Mongol gas station located not more than 20 meters from the fire. If the fire spread any faster it was probable that the gas station would explode. The gas station workers have already stopped operations and had sand and fire suppression chemicals ready. During this time, the officials who were present stated, “It is clear that this gas station was built illegally. The policy states that gas stations have to be established at least 100 meters from any establishment with appropriate protection. But this one is built not more than 20 meters away with nothing but a fence to protect it.”
Senior specialist at the Fire Fighting Division of General Emergency Management Agency S.Baatarsuren stated, “The whole of the store house was burnt. The smoke makes is impossible for anyone to enter hence, unaffected items cannot be removed. It is not clear at the moment what caused the fire. The investigators will begin their work when the smoke subsides. The cause will be determined within 2 weeks.”

The most important thing is that the fire didn’t spread to the offices. The fire fighters are very quick.”
