PRESIDENT RECEIVES A.P.TORSHIN

Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia /MONTSAME/ The President Ts.Elbegdorj received on Friday a delegation headed by A.P.Torshin, the Deputy chairman of the Federation Council of the Russian Federation (RF) and state advisor to the RF.

The State Head thanked the delegation for attending the elections as observers, adding "I would like to hear your opinions and conclusions".

Mr. Torshin conveyed to Mongoia's leader greetings from Valentina Matviyenko, the chairwoman of the Federation Council of the RF, and said the State Great Khural and Citizens' Representative Khural of City elections ran fairly. "They have been organized very well, fully exploiting automatic devices. I have not experienced such elections before," he said. The Mongolians are very active electorate, he went on and thanked the organizers for providing foreign observers and reporters with good working conditions.

Mr. Torshin said Russia's authorities want the Mongolia-Russia relations and cooperation to intensify, and hoped that the new parliament and cabinet to be formed after the election will pay attention to widening of the bilateral relations.

In response, the State Head said he is satisfied with such a positive impression of the elections, adding the Russians' participation in the elections as observers has its importance in the bilateral ties. The President hoped that the new parliament and cabinet would also focus on developing the bilateral cooperation with both traditional and new contents.

Present at the meeting were V.V.Samoilenko, the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Russia to Mongolia, and the delegation comprising Bato-Jargal Jambalnimuyev, S.V.Belousov, members of the Federation Council; I.V.Matveyev, a deputy head of the External Office of the Federation Council; and others.
