Visitor arrivals to Mongolia surge in first five months of 2010

ULAN BATOR, Jun 20, 2010 (Xinhua via COMTEX) -- Foreign tourist arrivals to Mongolia have surged 59 percent in the first five months of 2010, compared to the same period of last year, the Ministry of Nature, Environment and Tourism said Sunday.


During the period, 8,5531 foreign tourists from South and East Asia and from Pacific island countries visited Mongolia. The figures showed that China is a main source of visitors to Mongolia. Of the total tourist arrivals, 69,982 were from China, accounting for 52 percent.
Mongolia has earned 62 million U.S. dollars in tourism revenues this year, a 20 percent increase over the year-ago level.
