MONGOLIA – Drilling program under way

King Solomon Mines is undertaking drilling at its Bu Dun Hua, Marmot and Deyinhar North gold, copper and molybdenum prospects in Mongolia.

The drilling work during this field season started at the Marmot Ridge gold-copper target, with the Beyinhar North gold target to follow and then the Bu Dun Hua copper-molybdenum-gold target.

At Marmot Ridge the program is aimed at testing the continuity and extent of gold mineralization.

Field checking associated with drill program preparation noted potential for the contact zone hosting the gold mineralization to extend for almost 2km.

The strongly anomalous gold values reported to date have been encountered in a small number of drill holes at either end of the potential 2km strike length while the greater part of its extent is buried under sand cover and remains untested.

At Beyinhar North an IP survey undertaken over the Roadside prospect in 2008 identified a large zone of chargeability anomalies along strike from the neighbouring Beyinhar gold deposit.

The broad nature of the anomalies and the presence of widespread sand cover have been a barrier to cost-effective exploration follow-up. However, King Solomon has located a drill rig with RAB capability and has designed a program of RAB fence-lines across the anomalies and the projected Beyinhar trend.
In addition, a number of RC holes are planned to test a prominent zone of epithermal-style silicification immediately north-west of the chargeability anomalies.

At the Far East prospect, careful plotting of anomalous base metal values in quartz veins has revealed a roughly oval 300 metre x 200 metre zone of persistent copper anomalism. Follow-up sampling is planned.
At Bu Dun Hua further petrographic studies, new satellite imagery, completion of 2009 drill hole data analysis and re-logging of core where necessary has added detail to the nature of the porphyry copper-molybdenum system discovered at Whitehorse late in 2009.

A coarse pattern of RC drill-holes is proposed through a tens-of-metre thickness of sand and colluvium cover. The program is designed to establish the limits, composition, geometry and metal zoning trends of the intrusive system, and is expected to lead to further deep diamond drilling.
