T.GANDI MEETS RESIDENT REPRESENTATIVE OF ADB

Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia /MONTSAME/ T.Gandi, the Minister of Social Welfare and Labour has received Robert Schoellhammer, the Resident Representative of Asian Development Bank /ADB/ to Mongolia.
T.Gandi said “The Mongolian government and ADB successfully cooperate in the social welfare sphere. In future, Mongolia is interested in directing the bilateral cooperation at equal distribution of the economic growth to the people through the implementation of pension and subsidy reforms." Although a new wording of the social welfare law has been submitted to the parliament, it is still awaited at the decision-making level.

Besides, a legal reform is realized to improve the pension and social insurance scheme. Here, Mrs. Gandi said Mongolia hopes to forward bilateral cooperation with ADB in this direction. Robert Schoellhammer noted that the 20th anniversary of cooperation between Mongolia and ADB is celebrated this year. If previously, Mongolia has received from ADB only non-refundable grants and credits, whereas now it is possible for Mongolia to become a country receiving commercial credits. Thereby, a new cooperation era opens.
