Mongolian boxers off to good start

Mongolian boxers are off to a good start at the AIBA World Boxing Championships in Baku, Azerbaijan. In the first round on Tuesday, Mongolia’s N.Tugstsogt defeated Bulgarian boxer Stefan Ivanov 22-15 (7-6, 6-4, 9-5) in the 52 kg division. Also on Tuesday, Mongolia’s D.Otgondalai defeated Armenian boxer Hovhannes Bachkov 24-13 (11-4, 8-5, 5-4) in the 56 kg division.

On Wednesday, Mongolia’s S.Erdenebayar was scheduled to fight New Zealand’s Ris Papuni in the 81 kg division.

Other Mongolian boxers still to compete include N.Tugstsogt, who will fight Indian boxer and Asian Games bronze medalist Suranjoy Singh on October 2, and D.Otgondalai, who will box South Korea’s Lee Jin Young on October 3.
