G.ZANDANSHATAR ATTENDS HIGH-LEVEL MEETING ON NUCLEAR SAFETY
Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia /MONTSAME/ A delegation led by G.Zandanshatar, the Minister of Foreign Affairs took part in a high-level meeting on strengthening nuclear safety organized September 22 at an initiative of the UN Secretary-General.
Main purposes of the meeting are to attract attention of the international community into matters on safety operation of nuclear energy consumption and guarantee of nuclear reactors and to take related measures.
The UN Secretary-General underlined an importance to gain public trust over safety and guarantee of nuclear power stations and to ensure the international standards of the safety operation at the highest level. Moreover, the Director-General of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) Yukiya Amano presented, at the meeting, a plan of safety operation with 12 clauses to be realized by the countries implementing nuclear programs. This plan has been worked out by the IAEA Board of Directors.
