PRESIDENT MEETS TUNISIA'S PM AND SWEDISH POLITICIAN
Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia, /MONTSAME/ At the Community of Democracies (CD) Council meeting, the President of Mongolia, Ts.Elbegdorj met the Prime Minister of Tunisia, Mohamed Ghannouchi. Mr Ghannouchi said Mongolia may help his country in developing the democracy. "Your country had to overcome many difficulties in a period that began with approving the Constitution and ended in becoming the head of the CD, and has gained great success," he said. Similar to Kyrgyzstan, Tunisia wants to send next year its representatives to have them studied the ways Mongolia is boosting the democracy, he said. Ts.Elbegdorj expressed a readiness to share experiences. It takes a long time to create a power that supports human rights, is free from corruption, is transparent, and obeys the laws, but "I am confident that Your country's government and people will set up a good governance and will manage to strengthen the democratic society," he said. He said that within the CD chairmanship Mongolia will activate member-countries activities and support the democracy education. xxxxxxxx The same day, Ts.Elbegdorj met Maria Leissner, a politician and human right defender from Sweden. Mrs Leissner said she was glad to hear that Mongolia intends to activate the CD members' activities. "I expect that number of the Asian countries in the CD will increase in years to come seeing Mongolia as an example," she said. "We must get stronger by attracting not only 'mature' democracies but also 'fresh' ones," she added. Mrs Leissner was a president of Swedish Liberal party, has been active in protecting human rights.
