Mongolia hosts multinational peacekeeping drill

About 1,200 troops from 23 countries are participating in a peacekeeping drill in Mongolia's Five Hills military field, southwest of the capital.

The exercises, dubbed Khaan Quest-2014 and aimed at training multinational forces' interoperability, started Friday and will continue through July 1.

This year's drill has four main parts: Command-Staff Exercise, Field Exercise of Platoons, Hospital-Humanitarian Operation, and Engineering Cooperation.

Khaan Quest, which was launched in 2003 by Mongolia and the United States, expanded into a multinational peacekeeping drill in 2006.
